Blue Hills Meteorological Observatory

BET worked with Turowski2 Architecture in a restoration effort of the historic Blue Hills Observatory. BHMO, originally built in 1885, is home to the oldest continuous weather recording station in North America, and continues to be used for both educational and public viewing purposes. The project began in 2015 and recently came to a successful conclusion. The work included restoring the concrete tower, repairing and replacing fenestration, and repairing, replacing, and repointing all masonry. We are proud to have played a role in the preservation of this architectural gem with a storied history. We also note our work on the preservation of the nearby Elliot Tower.
